Each summer, Ontogen Medtech connects emerging innovators and early-stage startups with talented engineering interns who are eager to gain hands-on experience in medical device development. Through this program, clients can tackle smaller, well-defined projects that benefit from professional oversight, full access to Ontogen’s resources, and a cost-effective development path.Whether you need help with an alpha prototype, cost-reduction study, or early feasibility testing, this program is designed to help you make meaningful progress — fast.
How It Works

Submit a Project Proposal
Tell us about your idea, scope, and goals using our quick online form below.
We’re looking for clear, focused projects suitable for ~150 intern hours over 8-10 weeks.

Project Matching
Ontogen will contact you to firm up project goals & scope, select and match interns based on project fit, then confirm participation via a simple Statement of Work (SOW).

Intnernship Execution
Your intern will dedicate roughly half of their internship time to your project — with senior Ontogen engineers providing guidance, technical oversight, and access to our labs, equipment, and cleanroom facilities.
Deliverables & Outcomes
You’ll receive tangible outputs such as design prototypes, test data, or refined CAD concepts — along with a presentation of results at program completion.
Program Cost
Participation in the program is a fixed fee of $10,000. This fee does not include any project materials or direct expenses which will be pass-through to the client. A project deposit of $5,000 is due upon project start, and the balance is due upon project completion.
